Been wondering what to do with the land…..barley. Maybe a few hop vines. A true “beer garden”
Even though the crib will have a radiant heat floor, I’m thinking of a heat recovery ventilator, perhaps even taking in air from the greenhouse. The south wall of the greenhouse could spare a few windows for some solar air heaters. Warmed fresh air goes in, old air goes out. Just need to figure out how to vent the kitchen stove next.

Welcome to the opening post on TwoBarnFarm.com! We have just closed on our property south of Jefferson, Iowa. We want this site to chronicle our trials, tribulations, and life here on the farm.
We would love for you to share in this journey with us.
We would like to start this blog with a big thank you to the Offenburgers and Judy Von Ahsen. And don’t forget my parents. Without each of these people, Two Barn Farm would have never begun. Not that it really has gone anywhere as of yet, but it’s a start!
We have several goals in taking on this project:
1. Live a sustainable lifestyle.
2. Employ renewable energy wherever possible.
3. Remove ourselves from the constraints of a “gotta have everything” society. Work to live, don’t live to work!
4. Enjoy what Iowa and it’s wonderful small towns and people have to offer.
