Don’t get me wrong. . .

I love my parents. However, there is a reason that children move out of their parents home and stay out! The 2+ hour commute to the farm, not having our own “space”, and the logistics of living in a house where the dogs have to be treated like dangerous zoo inhabitants has made us decide that finding our own place to stay is best.

We thought about renting, but hate the idea of throwing money away on rent. So we decided to buy. We found a cute little house in Jefferson in a nice neighborhood. Mason can walk or ride his bike to school. It is VERY similar to the house we left in Colorado only this one has a full basement and costs about $100K less.
Now we are putting out the call for help! We sold all of our appliances and some of our furniture when we left Colorado. We are in need of some good deals. If you know anyone who is upgrading their appliances and selling their old ones, please let us know. We need:
Electric Clothes Washer/Dryer
Refrigerator
Gas (or electric) range
Small Dining Table
Thanks!
If you are ever in Des Moines, check out the Habitat for Humanity Restore.
We have bought stoves, dishwashers, lamps, hoods, floor tile, some paint, doors, countertops. Just know what you need size wise before going. Our understanding is the Home Depots, Lowes, and etc., give the floor models to them because they aren’t allowed to sell if a charity is in the area. Dishwasher was missing the owners manual, pulled one off the Maytag website. Lamps came from the Downtown Marriott remodeling.

I have a real nice heated mattress cover you can have, LOL!
What a cute house! Find me one like that AND a good job AND a cute cat loving cowboy and maybe we’ll be neighbors.
I think you made a very good decision here. No matter how well you plan a building and remodeling project it always seems to take longer than planned. Now you can kinda work at your own pace and hopefully the stress factor will be lessened. Jefferson has a real “small town Iowa” feel to it and Im sure you will enjoy living there. You seem to be doing everything right.
To Tammy: We’re Osbornes’ friends who lured them to Greene County, and it looks like it’s now time for us to work on you. This county is full of affordable houses, good jobs and cat-loving cowboys — I don’t think they’re so cute, but Carla does. We also have one of the best rec trails in the nation, the best glazed donuts on the planet at Bunkers’ Dunkers in Jefferson, the Iowa State Fair cinnamon roll champion, $3 movies at the Sierra Theatre, plus a cool new coffeehouse just opened on the west side of the square. It’s time for you to get yourself here.
Chuck O., for Carla, too
